Chief Deputy Jason McCrory began his career as a
police officer with the Greensboro Police
Department in 1996.  Jason attended the Alabama
Police Academy at Selma, Alabama and  graduated in
the top five of his class, as well as being elected a
class officer. Jason worked as a patrol officer for
Greensboro Police Department from 1996 until 1998
under the direction of former Chief Gary A. Bice.  In
1998 Jason was hired by Sheriff Larry G. Johnson as
a COPS Program Deputy with the Hale County
Sheriff's Office. Jason worked night shift patrol and
also served as K-9 deputy with his narcotics dog,
Jago.  In October 2008 Jason was promoted to the
rank of Sergeant by newly elected Sheriff Kenneth
W. Ellis.  As Sergeant, Jason was shift supervisor
for evening shift and responsible for all calls for
service.  In June 2009 Jason was appointed to the
position of Chief Deputy Sheriff of Hale County by
Sheriff Kenneth W. Ellis.  

Chief McCrory is the executive officer of the
department and is responsible for its day to day
operations.  He manages a two million dollar annual
department budget, and is the Commander of the
Sex Offender Unit for Hale County as well as the
Public Information Officer for social media including
Facebook, Nixle and this website. Chief McCrory
has worked hard to bring the highest level of
technology, training and professionalism to those
under his command.  As of 2017 Chief McCrory has
obtained over $17
4,000 in state and federal grants
for the Hale County Sheriff's Office.

Chief McCrory has received several awards
including, 1997 Greensboro Police Department
Chief's Citation, 2004 Exemplary Service Certificate
from the Hale County Child Support Enforcement
Unit, 2008
Governor's Law Enforcement Medal of
the prestigious 2009 Sheriff's Award,
Sheriff's Commendation for distinctive service
to the citizens of Hale County during the April 27,
2011 Tornado Disaster, 2015
Meritorious Conduct
from the Sheriff, and a 2015 Exemplary
Service Certificate
from the Hale County Child
Support Enforcement Unit.

Chief McCrory is a lifelong resident of Hale County.  
He grew up in Greensboro and currently lives in
Moundville with his wife and three sons. Jason is a
member of the Alabama Peace Officer's Association,
Fraternal Order of Police, National Domestic
Preparedness Coalition, U.S Deputy Sheriff's
Association and the National Sheriff's Association.   
He is a  board member for the Moundville Public
Library and past board member for the Greensboro
Boys & Girls Club, and Moundville Planning &
Zoning Commission.  He also serves as Deputy
Safety Coordinator for Hale County as well as the
Safety Advisory Committee for the Alabama
Association of County Commissioners.  Chief
McCrory is a devout Roman Catholic and he and his
family are members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in
Tuscaloosa as well as a 3rd Degree Knight with the
Knights of Columbus Council #4083 located in
20 Year Veteran
